EPISODE 01: HOW RAVEN STOLE THE SUN $19.95

One day, Frog tells them about an old man who keeps the sky, the stars, the moon and the light of the world in a set of boxes in his hut by the river. Curious, Raven transforms himself into a spruce needle and is swallowed by the old man’s daughter as she drinks from the river.

Raven sleeps and grows inside the girl until he was born as a Raven-child. Using all his powers of persuasion, his childish charisma and the odd temper tantrum, he persuades the old man to open the boxes.

At the moment he hands the last box to the Raven-child, the Raven assumes his true form and escapes from the hut through the smoke hole, which blackens his feathers. As he ascends into the sky with the sun, the world around him is instantly transformed by the light, which awakens all the plants and animals.

EPISODE 02: RAVEN AND THE FIRST PEOPLE $19.95

Bored and frustrated with the new animals, Raven and Eagle find a giant clam shell with the first men inside. Raven takes charge of the men, teaching them to hunt and make fire, but they are useless and he grows tired of them.

They find another shell, this time with the first women inside, but they just make things worse. Raven decides to get rid of them, and coaxing them back into the shell he pushes it back out to sea.

A year passes and Raven and Eagle find the clam shells empty on the beach, and beyond, a village of the first people with their children.

EPISODE 03: THE SEA WOLF $19.95

Gwai is having a hard time catching fish, so Frog tells him to find the greatest hunter of all, the Sea Wolf.

The Sea Wolf offers to help, but only if Gwai agrees to carve him a totem. Gwai agrees, and the Sea Wolf fills his nets with fish, but Gwai takes credit for the catch himself and forgets to build the totem. Angry, the Sea Wolf takes all the fish from the village in the middle of the night.

The other men decide to hunt the Sea Wolf, but Gwai goes back into the woods, and working day and night, creates a totem for the Sea-Wolf, who forgives him and returns the fish.

EPISODE 04: GONE FISHING $19.95

The first people build Eagle a totem because he catches so much fish for them. Raven becomes jealous, and decides to try and win all the fish in the village for himself. He makes up a story of a mystery bird that he has seen catching huge fish from the ocean. Eagle boasts he can catch the biggest fish, and so Raven snares him into a fishing contest.

Secretly, Raven bets on Eagle and plans to throw the contest, dressing up in a silly costume as the mystery bird. Raven leaps down and hits a rock, losing his costume and falling into the water, but is saved when the real mystery bird, the Kulos appears.

EPISODE 05: LOVE AND WAR $19.95

Q'os is in love with Igis, but Igis is too much in love with herself. He goes to Raven for advice, who tells him to make a snowman, and dress it with Igis' clothes. Raven transforms the snowman into Moowis, a brave, handsome warrior with whom Igis falls immediately in love.

Q'os complains that the trick hasn’t worked, but Raven tells him to be patient. Soon Igis stands ready to wed Moowis. Standing with her in the sun he melts into a pool of water leaving Igis to look at her reflection.

Raven tells her that she has always only loved herself, even though someone else has loved her. Q'os steps forward and Igis agrees to marry him instead.

EPISODE 06: BALD EAGLE $19.95

Eagle and Raven tell their own versions of how, before the light, Eagle and Raven carried the Great Spirit across the world.

As they travelled, the Great Spirit ate and drank, becoming heavier, and Raven, sneaking food and drink for himself, became too tired to help. Tired and frustrated, Eagle angrily dropps them from his back and they fall to the ground. Worried he has killed his friends, Eagle flies down to their motionless bodies but the Great Spirit reaches up and grabs his head-feathers, turning them white.

Eagle is horrified, but Great Spirit tells him that is what he gets for having no sense of humor.

EPISODE 07: THE CHILD OF TEARS $19.95

Igis and Q'os are trying to have a child without success. Frog comes upon Igis crying in the forest, and she tells her to visit Dzunukwa, the witch of the forest.

Dzunukwa takes Igis' tears and combines them with mud to create a little boy, Klundux. Igis and Q'os are happy, but the people mistreat Klundux because he is different, and he runs away. Dzunukwa returns to the village and takes all the children away. With raven's help the people track Dzunukwa to her home where they find the children playing happily, learning the secrets of the forest.

Dzukukwa allows the people to take their children back, but only if they return in the summer to visit, which is why it rains in spring before summer returns.

EPISODE 08: HOWL AT THE MOON $19.95

The people in the village are tired because the wolves howl all night, so the men head off into the woods to flush them out.

Wina chases a pair of wolves to a high shelf of rock but he decides to lower his spear rather than harm them. That night he becomes lost in a sudden winter storm and the people fear he has perished, but he returns the next day covered with a warm deer fur, rested and fed.

He explains that he was cared for by two shadowy strangers in a cave, who revealed themselves as the wolves from the hunt who decided to show him mercy as he had done for them. They tell him that they only cry out in the night to tell the people of the village that all is well.

Wina announces that he has decided to be of the wolf clan, and to wear the symbol of the wolf and build them totems.

EPISODE 09: RAVEN AND THE COYOTE $19.95

Raven overhears Frog talking about the trickster Coyote and decides to head south to find him.

Coyote asks Raven to teach him to fly, so Raven suggests he grab Coyote’s nose and carry him high into the air. Coyote squirms in pain and his nose begins to stretch. Raven warns him to stop, but Coyote wriggles free, falling so quickly his tail catches fire and he hits the ground in a puff of dust. Coyote's red skin is now covered in dust, his nose is long with holes from Raven's talons and his tail has a black singe mark at the end.

Raven laughs, but in fact, Coyote wanted to change his appearance because the creatures of the desert have come to know his old form, so he tricked Raven into transforming him!

EPISODE 10: RAVEN GETS SICK $19.95

It is a cold winter and everybody is sick.

Frog arrives and tells them how long ago, the animals called the Great Spirit to meet with them. They complain that humans have all of the advantages, including hands, the ability to walk upright, master fire and create shelter, while they suffer each winter; the bears sniffling in dark caves, the bugs aching joints, the snakes soar bellies and the birds aching throats.

The Great Spirit decides that during the winter the people will suffer like the bear and the snake and the insect and will be silenced as the birds, but Frog counsels him, and he decrees that the people may find a cure for these ills in the roots, the leaves and the bark of the plants if the people are smart enough to find them, and wise enough to remember them.

EPISODE 11: THE FLOOD $19.95

Spring has arrived and the children are at play. They see a tiny mouse who warns the children that a great flood is coming, and that they must go to higher ground.

Over the next few days, they try to warn their parents, who remain skeptical. Raven and Eagle just laugh at them, and Frog simply advised them that they were told to do it themselves, so they should find a way. That night, everything of value is taken from the village as the people sleep.

Suddenly all the parents wake up and see that not only has everything been stolen, but also the children are missing and crying out to them. They run toward the cries of help, up to the top of a great hill where they find the children surrounding a pile of their possessions. They begin to get angry when down the hill the Sea erupts in great waves that destroy the village. They look down at the children. You tried to warn us, and we wouldn’t listen.

The mouse appears and transforms into Mouse woman. You have lost your village, but you have been saved, she squeaks, but the adults cannot understand her. A child turns to them and explains that she is saying you must learn to listen to even the smallest among you. Even a mouse can roar.

EPISODE 12: THE GATHERING $19.95

The First People return to their village, which has been destroyed by the great flood. They struggle to work, but days go by but they make little progress by themselves. After many days they are exhausted and hungry with much still to be done.

Frog reminds them that they have many friends, they just need to call on them. Q'os calls to Kulos, who helps them to rebuild their homes. Gwai calls to the Sea Wolf, who brings them food from the sea. Still they find they are falling behind, trying to take care of the kids and rebuild. Frog reminds them of Dzunakwa, who comes to take the children into the forest. They begin to make progress, but fall is coming too fast. Frog suggests that they ask the animals of the forest.

The people are skeptical, but they call out to the animals who come from out of the forest and begin to help the people rebuild. Just as the first snow begins to fall they are finished and one by one they say goodbye to their friends. The animals look on and begin to slink back into the forest, assuming they will not be thanked. At this, Raven steps forward and asks them all to stay. There is so much food and they have warm homes and the animals have had no time to ready themselves for winter. We must celebrate this time, says Frog, and the people agree happily.

They celebrate the first Potlatch by giving gifts of food to the animals.

EPISODE 13: THE ROUGH FACE GIRL $19.95

The boys are making fun of Dza because she is a girl. Winadzi calls her ugly which hurts her feelings, so Frog tells her the story of the Rough Face girl.

Rough Face Girl comes upon a huge wigwam with a great bird guarding the entrance. He informs her that the Great Spirit is inside, and he is looking for a wife, but he will only wed someone who can truly see him.

Rough Face returns to the village but the people laugh at her wild tale. During the night however, her sisters steal her shell necklace and cloak, and take them as gifts to the Great Spirit in an attempt to woo him. They sneak past the sleeping bird, and once inside, they lie about being able to see him, and his voice sends them away in shame.

Rough Face wakes up to find her gifts are missing, so she asks her father for something to offer. He gives her an old pair of moccasins, which are in disrepair, but she sees the value in them, and thus she understands. She returns to the wigwam, and informs the Great Spirit that she can see him in the beauty inside of all things. He appears and accepts her as his wife, and her true beauty is revealed.

They return to the village and the people are amazed, but the Rough Face girl tells them that her beauty was there all the time, if only that had looked inside her. This ability she gives to them as a wedding present, then she, her Father and the Great Spirit disappear forever.

EPISODE 14: DREAM, DREAM, DREAM $19.95

Gwayum is worried about Widi's day-dreaming, so Frog tells her about the earliest times before the world when the Great Spirit decided to fill the space with light and life.

He created the land and said, "Everything is ready now." He thought about what kinds of creatures he would make until he fell asleep, dreaming of plants of all colors, insects, animals, birds and human beings. When he awoke, the Great Spirit saw Raven, Eagle and Frog at play in this first world, and he realized the world of his dream had become his creation. “We must not question the dreamers amongst us,” says Frog, “but be patient and help them if we can. They are the creators.”

Gwayum takes this to heart and as Frog hops away Widi jumps up. “I’ve got it!” He runs to the others and tells them he knows how to make a boat fly. They all laugh at him, but Gwayum offers to help. Working together, they take a length of fabric and attach it to a pole, which he puts in his tiny boat. It is a sail, and sure enough, it makes the boats fly over the water.

EPISODE 15: DOG DAYS $19.95

The children are fishing when a great wind takes them to a beach far away where they meet a huge animal that looks like a wolf. He introduces himself as Dog, and he helps the children hunt for food and keeps them warm at night.

Eventually, he brings them home to his master, a Giant, to ask if he can help the children to go home. The Giant transforms dog into 3 times his size so that he can carry the children home on his back, but he nears the people’s village, Dog becomes smaller as the magic leaves him, shrinking to half his original size and starts to lose his ability to speak.

Dog turns to leave the children on the beach apologizing that he is now so small, and surely will be of little use now, but the people offer to let him stay and he becomes a member of the hunt.

EPISODE 16: GREAT BEAR ROCK $19.95

The children are playing in the forest, making up games and competing with one another. Winadzi climbs too high onto a rock wall, but he's too proud to admit he is too scared to come down. Raven comes and tells him the story of how he tricked the great bear, who was always bragging of his great strength and bullying the other animals.

Raven challenged the Great Bear to prove his strength by jumping to the small rocks off the coast, something that Raven and the other birds could do easily. Initially the Great Bear declined, but Raven questioned the Bear’s strength and courage and his pride drove him to accept. They jumped from rock to rock, each just a little bit farther than the last, until they were too far to jump back without help.

Rather than admit he was weak, Bear decided to stay out on the rock until finally he turned to stone; and the rock remains on the beach to this day to teach the people humility.

EPISODE 17: BABY BLUES $19.95

A new child has been born to Gwaiyum and all the family is excited, except for Widi. When the baby is born, she is not given a name because she will not stop crying. Then her eyes land on Widi’s warrior doll, she stops abruptly and breaks into a wide smile. The parents ask Widi to give the doll to her, but he refuses.

Eagle tells him the story about when the Great Spirit was angry with the people for taking from the land and giving nothing in return, so he caused a great drought. Everyone was worried, but a little girl, Agas, knew what to do. She offered her most prized possession, the doll her late father had given to her, to the Great Spirit to ask for rain. The Great Spirit was pleased, and the rains returned.

Widi decides to make his new sister happy and to help the people of the village by giving her his doll. Widi names the baby, who is now quiet and happy, Agas, which means, “She who is not alone.”

EPISODE 18: STARLIGHT, STARBRIGHT $19.95

The children sit outside looking up at the stars, wondering how they came to take the shapes that they have. Eagle tells them how the Great Spirit gathered all of the stars from the sky and called together all the animals to sit before the Old Man and his Daughter and give them a pattern for all to enjoy.

Coyote, being a trickster, waited until everyone, including the Great Spirit was gathered to gaze at the newly-placed Morning Star. He tiptoed over to the box of stars and lifted the lid just a little, and the stars rose to the occasion, pushing the lid away and racing into the sky, which is why so many twinkle without order or pattern, and why so many are not named.

EPISODE 19: THE GAMES $19.95

Raven, Eagle, Wina and Qos become lost at sea, coming to rest on a strange island. They find a village of people much like themselves, complete with their own Raven and Eagle. They are surprised to see Frog, who explains that there are many other people in the world, and many other Ravens and Eagles. She introduced everyone and an evening of dancing, storytelling and gift giving ensues.

The following morning, the rest of the first people, led by Gwai, arriving in canoes of their own and the two villages decide to visit together. The children become bored, so Frog suggests that they organize some games to pass the time. Soon, both villages are competing in a variety of activities, which culminate in a huge feast and the exchanging of prizes.

Through competing, they realize that hey have come to know and respect each other’s culture all the more, and come together in friendship. The people decide to join together in friendly competition once each year.

EPISODE 20: SPIDERS AND DREAMS $19.95

Dza is having nightmares. She cannot sleep and is confused and scared. Finding it difficult to decide on exactly what she’s afraid of, Eagle and the people decide she must be afraid of spiders because she said there was a spider in her nightmare.

To help keep her from being frightened, Wina tries to watch over her as she sleeps. Unfortunately, he too falls asleep and enters the dream world. Here he meets the Spider and She gives him a gift of knowledge to protect the children from evil spirits.

When Wina wakes up, he teaches the other parents of the village how to fashion the wood, leather and feathers into special gifts for their children, called a Dream Catcher.

EPISODE 21: BUKWAS $19.95

Caught in a storm at sea, the men find themselves shipwrecked on a strange beach and are captured by Bukwas an evil spirit who takes their souls. When the men don't return, Igis goes to Dzunukwa, who tells her that the men are with Bukwas.

She sets out to sea with Raven, who seems more interested in fooling around than helping her find the men. Raven builds three stick men and dresses them with clothes and hats from the village and they spring to life, clumsily following him and Igis into the forest.

Raven tricks Bukwas into playing a game, wagering Bukwas' prisoners against his own. Raven wins, then loses, then wins again, each time trading men with Bukwas, until the men are all on his side. Raven calls the game a tie, but Bukwas is angy at being tricked, and tries to stop them, but Igis fends him off with her spear until the sun emerges, scaring him away and they escape.

EPISODE 22: WORK AND PLAY $19.95

After an argument with his mother for avoiding his chores, Klundux decides to live on his own with Raven in the forest, where they can play day and never work.

Morning comes and Klundux realizes he’s hungry, but they have no food. After a failed day hunting, Klundux steals some food from his parents hut but it leaves a terrible taste in his mouth. At night the rain pours, making them so miserable that Raven abandons him and runs back to live with Eagle.

The next day, Igis and Qos find that all the chores have been done for them - the house is clean and the stores are full. Klundux appears in the doorway and apologizes for stealing the food. His parents tell him he never stole anything, for their food is his food, he need only provide a little help now and then to earn his share.

EPISODE 23: CHANGE AND BUTTERFLIES $19.95

The Great Spirit tells the children a time of change is coming, that the world will soon be different. He then asks the children if they would like to grow up and have children of their own? The children would like this but first he assigns a task to them to learn about change, growth and responsibility.

In his hand are 4 cocoons. He tells the children that their gifts will be revealed after they take care of and guard the cocoons until he comes back the following year. After Great Spirit leaves, the children almost immediately forget about the cocoons and Eagle spends an entire year frantically trying to keep track of them for the children. Finally a year passes and the Great Spirit returns.

Eagle presents him with the cocoons and when he holds them to his mouth and blows on them, hundreds of beautiful shimmering butterflies emerge and everyone is in awe. Great Spirit gives them butterflies to remind Eagle and the people that there is beauty in everything, even change.

EPISODE 24: A DAY IN THE LIFE $19.95

As the villagers work hard at their chores, Raven works equally hard avoiding them.

After escaping to the forest, he finds himself in the middle of a dispute over a giant salmon between bear and wolf. The Great Spirit hears their grievances, and asks Raven for his opinion, but Raven, who is always hungry, can identify with both parties.

To everyone's surprise, the Great Spirit decides to give the salmon to Raven, for unlike bear and wolf, who have become prideful in their claim to the fish, Raven simply appreciates it for what it is: a nice meal.

EPISODE 25: THE RETURN OF KULOS $19.95

S'gaana the Killer Whale won’t allow the villagers to fish. Faced with starvation, Wina decides to fight back.

After a disastrous attempt at catching S'gaana, Wina takes inspiration from his dreams of the spirit world that tell him to look to the Kulos for a different strategy. He sets out again to battle S'ganna using the power of Kulos, a great hook that is shaped like one of the giant bird's talons.

Exhausted from fighting the hook, S'ganna finally surfaces, and he promises Wina he will respect the villagers and share the ocean with them.

EPISODE 26: MUSICIANS OF THE SUN $19.95

It is winter in the village and the sun is not shining. The snow is piling up, trapping the people inside and making them irritable. Frog comes to relieve the tension by telling the story of how the Great Spirit sent Raven to free the musicians of the sun, so that the people can have music and the world could have light.

The Sun selfishly kept the musicians and their music for himself, but with Frog's help, Raven is able to free them, though their instruments are burned to ash in the process. The Great Spirit comes to the villagers and teaches them how to make new instruments, and they make beautiful music and the people are happy and the world is bright again.
